Learning Support at Onerahi School is focused on making sure access to education is equitable and effectively meeting the needs of each individual student. We believe tamariki have the right to succeed through being themselves, knowing themselves, and building on the strengths they carry with them. Through strong partnerships with whānau, the team builds plans to support children in achieving their goals.
The Learning Support Team is involved in coordinating various student support programmes. They provide advice and guidance to whanau and teachers and organise Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). They connect with various outside agencies (such as Ministry of Education, RTLB, and Northland Health) and make sure each learner has a cohesive team around them. It doesn’t matter where your child is achieving in the New Zealand Currciulum, Learning Support is focused on helping them continue to grow and find success in their learning.
Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) provide a cohesive plan developed by the school, student, whanau, and any outside agencies. This process is strength focused, celebrating what is working well and then setting clear goals to work towards. ILPs are unique to each child. They will clearly capture what support can look like at both home and at school.
